14th Dalai Lama to visit San Diego in April
His Holiness The XIV Dalai Lama will be visiting 3 of San Diego’s universities this spring: San Diego State, UC San Diego and USD.
His Holiness the Dalai Lama is a man of peace. In 1989, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his non-violent struggle for the liberation of Tibet. He has consistently advocated policies of non-violence, even in the face of extreme aggression. He also became the first Nobel Laureate to be recognized for his concern for global environmental problems.
The Compassion Without Borders symposium will include three major public events on April 18 and 19.
- April 18, UC San Diego: The Global Impact of Climate Change: Balance through Universal Responsibility, Compassion and Human Consciousness
- April 18, USD: Cultivating Peace and Justice
- April 19, SDSU: Upholding Universal Ethics and Compassion in Challenging Times
Tickets will be available for public purchase beginning Feb. 22 at the event website. All events are $25 per ticket, with a limit of 2 tickets per person.
Last year, the Dalai Lama spoke at the University of California, Irvine, and friends of the Center from as far away as New Hampshire joined in a ticket-securing effort that enabled this large contingent from the Iyengar Yoga community in North County San Diego to attend. Carolyn said, “Being in the presence of such a spiritual being as the Dalai Lama was a remarkable and awe-inspiring experience. I felt as if I’d spent the day with Mr. Iyengar.”

Can hardly wait!
